Yes… I am STILL pregnant! Apparently this whole mind over matter stuff really works! As you may have read in our last post, I was determined to keep the babies cookin’ until our June 25th goal…. and now here we are, a week beyond that lofty goal and Tyler & Madison are STILL resting comfortably in their respective sections of the womb : ) I think we owe this in large part to positive thinking, my daily “couch time”, good nutrition, Jeff putting in double-duty at home so I could stay off my feet, and last but certainly not least, the Big Guy upstairs watching over us and our babies for the past nine months.

Today we will head off to the hospital to see about having some babies! So to all of you who have been following along our journey thus far, making the daily phone calls only to hear time and time again that there was no action to report, thank you for your unrelenting support, sorry to have kept you waiting so long, and be assured, the wait is almost over!!! But before we can all ooh and aah over what will SURELY be the cutest babies you have ever seen (besides your own of course)… we have one more favor to ask… as you go about your day today, please take a moment to say a little prayer for us.

Final Stretch!

We’ve made it to the final stretch! We are 2 weeks out from our due date and in the words of our dear doctor, Dr. L., “You can go into labor now and we won’t do anything heroic to stop it.” This is really a HUGE relief for us because preterm labor is the prime concern in a twin (or higher order) pregnancy. The goal is to keep the babies incubating as long as possible so they can make a healthy appearance into the world and forego any possible stay in the neonatal intensive care unit or risks of long term health issues associated with premature birth. At this point I am thinking positive in an effort to convince both myself and my ever-aching body that I will make it through the final two weeks. I’ve even gone ahead and booked my weekly appointments with Dr. L. clear through June 25th. The receptionist looked at me funny and asked if I really thought I’d still be pregnant by then… I just looked at her and smiled. She obviously didn’t know who she was dealing with, and I didn’t have time to explain to her my self brainwashing tactics! If however, I do make it that far, Tyler and Madison are expected to weigh in at well over 6 pounds each which means I will probably be pretty uncomfortable miserable. Is it just me or does anyone else think I should get a nice prize for making it this far?

And speaking of prizes, a few weekends ago I had the pleasure of enjoying a lovely Babymoon planned by none other than my awesome husband. Jeff planned a getaway weekend to Palm Springs for us and despite the 100+ degree weather, we had an amazing time! We spent the weekend at the Miramonte Resort and enjoyed a couples massage at the infamous “Well Spa” on site. We also went to dinner at one of my very favorite restaurants, The Falls Steakhouse in Palm Springs. Aside from their steaks they are also known throughout Palm Desert for their martinis… Jeff got to partake in that portion of the menu, I just enjoyed many ice cold glasses of Pellegrino Sparkling Water. We spent the remainder of our stay relaxing at the Miramonte and strolling through town. Actually there was much more relaxing than strolling. I also learned that at 8 months pregnant, it’s kinda hard to swim. It was the floating part that I was having a hard time with. Luckily my fellow Babymooner was nice enough to hang out in the shallow end with me so I could enjoy the pool without feeling like I was training for the olympics. It was a great weekend!

Ok… so as many of you have pointed out, our site has collected a little dust over the last month (perhaps it’s been a little more than a month- ooops) But rest assured, we’re still here, still VERY pregnant, and recent history aside, still fully intend to keep this site updated frequently!

The month of April was quite busy around Casa Myers. I spent every spare second frantically preparing for my impending law school finals, and Jeff was knee deep in work @ the firm. Although we are very grateful for the responsibilities that occupy our time, we are equally thankful for the sake of our own sanity that things have calmed down around here. Fortunately for us, and more importantly for our readers, finals are over, I am now enjoying a long term hiatus from the corporate world, and the world of accounting has calmed down enough for Jeff to squeeze in a couple week day afternoon surf sessions in the last week!

The most exciting event since our last post was hands down our Baby Shower! On April 25th we gathered at the Renaissance Club with about 60 close friends and family members to celebrate Twin A and Twin B! By the way, the twins have officially shed their Twin A & B status in exchange for their “real” names –>Tyler and Madison! Tyler’s middle name will be Jeffrey (after his Daddy) and Madison’s middle name is still undetermined, but we have a few front runners currently under consideration. As it turns out, naming a child is a massive responsibility; so although our little ones were nameless for many months, we hope they will forgive us when they realize how much we struggled to find the perfect names. Afterall, these names will be with them forever!

Back to the Baby Shower… it was an absolutely memorable day! No detail was overlooked- thanks to Aunt Maria, the eternal planner and perfectionist. She hand crafted everything from the invitations, to the table centerpieces, to the favors, to a monkey and giraffe topped diaper cake! We’re not sure how she made time for this between preparing not one but TWO scrapbooks complete with a whole years worth of pre-made layouts for Tyler and Madison and crocheting blankets. The celebration was truly fit for royalty, and our little Prince and Princess will surely grow up knowing how much they are loved by every hand that had a part in putting this event together, as well as everyone who came to join in the celebration.

Nursery Project: Phase II

And now for the part I can take credit for… (well sort of)… I decided early on that this nursery had to be as special as the two little babies that would soon get to share it. Once we found out the twins were a boy and a girl, the job of dreaming up the perfect nursery became even more of a challenge. Gender neutral tones of mint green or yellow weren’t going to cut it… so the idea of the two-tone pink and blue came about. But it wouldn’t be your garden variety shades of pink and blue… they would have to be very modern, subdued and dare I say, chic, shades of these traditional colors. Hence the Ralph Lauren Beach Water & Natural Berry. But this nesting twin-mom couldn’t stop there… then came the vision for the mural. I quickly turned to my favorite resource, my dear friend Google. After much brainstorming and putting together all my ideas and color swatches, I set off (again with my friend Google) on a hunt for a muralist who could make the vision a reality. A short search led me to a very talented muralist from San Diego, Brett Al-Azzawi. After talking a bit about the project, I knew he was the right man for the job. Although I was the mastermind behind the vision, it couldn’t have come together without www.wallsbybrett.com

Wow… I can’t believe it’s been a month since our last posting! Time is flying and things have been very busy at Casa Myers lately. As it turns out, preparing for the arrival of TWO newborns is not a task for the faint of heart. There are cribs to be ordered & assembled, paint swatches to be analyzed, new flooring to be installed, bedding to be shopped for, murals to be painted…….. the list goes on. Not to worry, there is no task two very eager and enthusiastic parents (or technically, parents-to-be) can’t master!

As much as I’d love to take credit for most of the recent developments in the nursery, truth be told it has been the proud Daddy who has shed the most blood, sweat and tears in the process. Not only has Jeff been facing the evils of a CPA’s busy season lately, but he has been putting in some grueling labor hours at home as well. If all that weren’t enough to drain any soul, he even had to give up surfing a couple weekends this month to get the nursery painted in time for the muralist to come in for Phase II of the nursery project. So let’s give credit where credit is due.

It’s a Girl!

Last Thursday we went in for our routine ultrasound & OB check-up and were blessed with the confirmation we had long awaited… “Baby A” is in fact a GIRL! And for those of you wondering… yes, “Baby B” is still a boy Armed with the wonderful news we set off on many shopping adventures and trips to Home Depot to pick out paint colors for the nursery… of course all this was done in between work schedules, law school, eating, sleeping, etc. Due to this, we have had a major lack of free time to squeeze in a quick post.

So to our faithful (and ever so patient) readers… please accept our apologies for the delay.

Not one, but TWO

For anyone left in the western hemisphere who doesn’t already know… we’re expecting twins!

Let us begin where our last website left off:

We got engaged in November ’07…blah blah blah… tied the knot on July 20th 2008… toured most of Europe (all the good parts anyway) on our honeymoon… returned to the Mother Land in August… fast forward a few months and voila… we are pregnant with twins. See how easy that works?

On November 4th 2008, the historical day Barack Obama was voted 44th President of the United States, we got some great news of our own – 100% absolute certainty, lab tested and doctor confirmed, +++ POSITIVE pregnancy test results!

Cindy, being the high achiever that she is, decided that she couldn’t just settle for a passing grade, she had to pass this pregnancy test with flying colors- and that she did! In fact she got such high marks that the doctor was starting to wonder if perhaps there was more than one little bun baking in the proverbial oven. Sure enough, he was right! Now if only we can get similar results on the California BAR Exam…

So here we are now… heading into month 5 of this wonderful thing called pregnancy. Truth be told it has been (despite the terrible morning sickness) the most amazing thing to happen to us. Besides getting married, of course. We have come to realize that we are absolutely mesmerized- if not obsessed- with these wonderful little beings who have come to be known as “Baby A” and “Baby B”. In the last month we have discovered that Baby B is a BOY, and Baby A is probably a GIRL! The “probably” is the doctor’s disclaimer- not ours. Stay tuned for confirmation after our next appointment on February 5th.

In the meantime, for those of you who haven’t already had the pleasure of “meeting” the Myers babies…

Welcome to our new web-home!

We are Jeff & Cindy Myers… but if you’re reading this, you probably already know that.

This blog will probably replace our current website JeffreyandCindy.com which has proven to be less functional than we had hoped. JeffreyandCindy.com was started in December of 2007, shortly after we got engaged, and served it’s primary function as our wedding website until we recently decided to update it and realized it was just going to be too much work for us Cindy to keep up.
